Here’s another character from my “Toy Mech” project. Gear bear should be finished just in time for his role. Got some pics of a raw “Gear Bear” right before paint. Enjoy! More Toy Mech previews coming real soon..
When I first started making these things they all kinda followed the same template. You can kinda notice with the first run of “Chaos City” characters. After about 3 or 4 runs I realized I needed to break out of that box. Have some fun. Here’s some from a batch that got sent to Japan in 2006. I used to have a friend/buyer living there. Back in my ‘Toy Tokyo’ consignment days.
If you wanna know who out there still has an inner child, walk around the city with a life-size BMO in your arms. It was amazing! When I transport projects home I always get some type of response but nothing like this. After awhile I took my head phones off because people kept asking me questions about Lil BMO or wanting to take pictures with it. You could hear kids and adults in the background: ” Look! Its BMO!” Man I love me some ‘Adventure Time” and I’m just now realizing how massive and diverse their fan base is! Those who don’t know of Adventure Time”, stop reading this and go watch an episode right now! Those who do know…Check out my hand-made BMO! Oh, and this “LSP” felt figure I made for one of my best friends (Serena) sister.
I started working in the BKI in Soho when it first opened. We had a huge chalkboard and my manager was cool enough to let me spend hours on piecing it up. It brought lots of customers in so that made it kinda work related. After awhile there was a small group of customers who would come in weekly to see the new piece. Yeah, I’m not going to lie, I liked working at BKI I just hated working for BKI. If that makes sense.
