It’s a little insulting when your art or music has been categorized for you. At one of my art shows I listened in as someone critiqued one of my nude girly pieces not knowing I was behind him. He went on to tell his friend of all the things I was feeling and thinking when I drew the picture. It was funny to me cuz from all his know-nothing-know-it-all ramblings he left out the only thing I was thinking about while drawing this picture: “Tits. I love drawing tits.” Same goes with music! You can’t tell me that I make a particular genre of music when you’ve invented the genre like 3 years ago. I’ve been making music since before the interweb ! The same music!(for reals yo) Back in my day, we didn’t have all these fucking genres. There was no ‘witch house’ or ‘Dub step’. There were plenty of artist back then that would get shuffled into one of these many unnecessary new-born genres of today. Case in point: Mr. Oizo. This was a producer who debuted in my salad days of electronic music. And he loved the fuck out of some wobble bass! But he worked that shit, he didn’t shove it down your throat yeah? He never called himself a dubstep producer. I do believe it was the summer of 1999. Dyllan, a friend from Atlanta just got his first piece of hardware: a Roland 505. This was his first step into stardom as the dance sensation “Le Castlevania”. Inspired, I went a different route. Software! I took a trip to Detroit Mi to visit some old high school buddies having spent my sophomore year there. Kirill and Rob(and Arron), my best mates in detroit, made the stuff I liked! The darker, faster more chaotic stuff that eventually got its own form of genre splicing. That summer, with the aid of caffeine and adderall, Kirill and Rob taught me how to program synths, manipulate and distort waves and they gave me a crash course on all types of software and hardware that’s aided me to this day. Now when I started, the last thing I wanted to do was make people dance. My role models where that of Arron Funk, Richard D James and Thomas Jenkinson (Venetian Snares,Aphex Twin,Squarepusher) and they didn’t really follow one genre. Much like myself, they where out to make music that transcends any genre. They made albums that couldn’t be stocked into one particular section other than ‘Electronic’,and that was debatable(see Squarepushers beautiful avant-garde jazz album “Music is rotted one note”). It was jungle, it was dub, it was hip hop. It had elements of punk and metal and industrial. Sometimes it was funky. Sometimes jazzy. Most times just hyperactive. In conclusion, I am not a dub step or witch house producer.I’m down to fool around with the tools and attributes that characterize said genres and I got nothing against those who dedicate themselves too them. I’m just not into committing to one style. Same goes to any other genre that gets created after the music that’s supposed to adhere to it. Still couldn’t tell you what the fuck witch house is though. Back in my day we just called it chopped and screwed. Oh yeah! Here are some new songs you may have missed http://soundcloud.com/hatesnack/detached and http://soundcloud.com/hatesnack/trust-protect-the-block and http://soundcloud.com/hatesnack/tetragrammaton these are all originals I posted on sound cloud awhile back. And lets remember wobble bass before it got out of hand with an amazing video from M’sieur Oizo. I’m going to go chase some kids off of my lawn. P.S. Beware: Your beloved genres will eat you if you don’t eat them first. And you can take that to the bank.

Trees!!
Now you know how much I love trees. I got some serious ass love for trees. I spend most of my time working with trees and I think its only fit that my boss asked me to design and build a tree for the next Javits gift show. My little sister Chloe has been working with me in the shop for the last couple of weeks and she has been awesome in snapping shots of the making of it in small stages. Ifyou happen to be at the gift show this week then go to the two’s company booth and not only can you see the tree in its final baby play land set but you can also see the epic two’s booth that we put up twice a year. The burnt room is one of my favorites. I hand torched the walls myself… well, me and Joe. Joe rules.
Once I get a shot of the entire booth I’ll post it. I wanna show of my wall papering and decal skills that actually pay bills. It’s things like this that makes a five hour daily commute totally worth it.
A key to make you larger: Morningwood 2
If your into comics or horror, or just good fucking writing, you might be familiar with the book “Locke & Key”. Well, without getting to wrapped up in explaining this awesome and epic tail I’ll tell you this:It’s about keys that open up doors in order to give you strange powers. Shits dope. One of the keys turns you about three or four stories high. It’s called the ‘Giant Key’ and I just made myself one.
Morningwood!
It’s been a minute yeah? So I’m not going to shower you with a shit ton of excuses as to why it’s been so long since I’ve posted. I will however show you some of the things I’ve been working on in my absence with these next couple of post. This post is about my wood. And how much I love my wood. You know what, I’ll let the following pictures of my wood just speak for themselves…n shit.
Music for days…
I’ve been working on laying new tracks in the lab over the weekends and a handful of high potent collabs. (that’s industry talk for I’ve been making music, sometimes with other people.) Here’s a link to a remix I did for a fellow Sound Cloud(er). This is my remix http://soundcloud.com/hatesnack/michael-4-10-berry-wearying and this is the original by Michael 4.10.berry http://soundcloud.com/michael410berry/wearying-notion-s Dude is dope! And here’s something I finished just now! Well, it;s not finished but close enough. http://soundcloud.com/hatesnack/liber-dabiri There’s also about five songs up that are new but I’m not posting all those links. There on my soundcloud page.
Bunny Power tha Fif!(5)
Prison Pit! (Warning: Brutal!!)
It’s kinda hard to read comics nowadays without feeling like someones dicking you over. I mean it all feels like some kind of half assed gimmick made to eat your hard-earned monies. They’re either killing off a character or resurrecting a character or just starting up a whole new continuity. It’s kinda rare to find a book that just gets straight to the point. But It’s nice when you do find it. Johnny Ryans ‘Prison Pit’ gets straight to the point. Then it chews it up and shits it out. Then it chews it up some more. Everything about this book is insanely genius! And brutal! The main characters name is ‘ Cannibal Fuck-Face’ for crying out loud! What!?! Anyway just check it out for yourself. It’s not for the faint of heart though. Here’s some Prison Pit fan art by ya boy.
When will it end!!!
Look, I haven’t posted in a while. I’ve been working for the past three weeks with not one day off. That with the 5 hour commute I make for work only leaves me enough time to drink a beer and watch some Greg the Bunny when I make it home. I feel insane. But all in all, it’s still no excuse when I have tons of old stuff I could be posting. Sad to say I still gotta work tomorrow but I’ll try and post oldies. Like this Yeah yeah yeahs ‘Maps’ remix.http://soundcloud.com/hatesnack/yeah-yeah-yeahs-maps-janked And whenever I do get a couple of days to myself I promise two things. One: I’m going to sleep for 24 hours straight. And two: I’m going to dedicate two solid days to art and music. Now, where the hell did I put my mind?
