Lovecraftian Flu

 What kind of jerk face gets sick on the first day of summer with some type of atomic space flu that last for three to four weeks? That would be this jerk face. I’ve been in bed for the most part which means I haven’t been doing the Toy Mech thing but I got a little something. You might remember last Halloween I mentioned an H.P. Lovecraft project I was revamping. No, I’m not about to lose focus of Toy Mech and start working on another unfinished project. I just thought I’d color some old character shots from said project since light photoshopping is something I can do while bed ridden. Eventually I will get around to finishing and releasing my Lovecraft tale. ( hopefully before Lovecraft becomes the next “zombies” and is ruined for me by the masses) But right now I’ve got to focus. Anyway, here’s some Lovecraftian horror, Jankins style.

Sharing the Lovecraft

A buddy of mine has started his journey through the many tales of H.P. Lovecraft after finding out that Guillermo Del Toros ( Pans Labyrinth) next movie project is based on one of Lovecrafts short stories ‘In The Mountains of Madness’. This is the shit for two reasons: A. By recommending my favorite stories I get to re-visit them vicariously through the eyes of a new comer to Howards world, and B. It reminds me to finish my own H.P. Lovecraft comic I started six years ago! Yeah, I have some trouble finishing stories because of new ideas. It’s the ADD. This story is my imagining of how Howard Phillips Lovecraft came up with his stories through writing ‘Strange Tales’. A lot of the classic Lovecraft elements and characters are there for instance, the main antagonists are Nyarlathotep, Wilbur Whateley, Obed Marsh and other big Lovecraft villains. I also add my own bits, like Howards simian sidekick Jacob Jermyn. So the good news is I’m going to release it on-line chapter by chapter. The bad news is I’m not doing that until October. I did mention that I gots the ADD (like everybody else) and I’ve other things I’m trying to release this month (comic-wise) and it’s Halloween so that makes more sense anyway. Deal with it. Here are some sneak peeks. How about that…

So you know I’m not joshing you – I will continue to release little bits and what not until October. Who the fuck is Josh anyway?

I miss Horror.

If you know me , you know horror is my shit. H.P. Lovecraft is one of my favorite writers and a lot of his influence show in my projects. One project I’ve been wrapping up is ‘ The Brooklyn Horror Show’. It’s my thank you the likes of Lovecraft, E.C.s ‘Tales from the Crypt, and almost every movie in the ” Body Horror “ genre.

I won’t give away too much of the story but I will share character design and chapter headers such as this one for chapter two.. Fans of John Carpenter, David Cronenberg, Stuart Gordon and of course Howie Lovecraft should be able to appreciate ‘The Brooklyn Horror Show’. If I ever finish it.
